Welcome

Welcome to the homepage of the Bujinkan Tendo Shingan Dojo. This is for the martial art of Bujinkan Budo, the Samurai and Ninja arts. This dojo or school, has been running for almost twenty years and was primarily set up in the University of Salford to offer cheap training to the students within Greater Manchester. As students left when their studies finished, many wanted to continue training. As such there are now several affiliated clubs that offer training throughout the UK.

The chief instructor, Ian Watkins trained in many other martial arts, boxing, judo and shotokan karate, to name a few, before starting his training in the Bujinkan in 1985. Since then he has continued to train regularly and has travelled around the world training and teaching. Looking at booking Japan trip once again for 2017, hopefully will be training with Sôke Hatsumi and the various Japanese Shihans again then.

About the Art

For those that have never heard of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu here is a very brief rundown:-

The system we learn, Bujinkan, is made up from nine ancient schools of the Budo martial arts. Some of these schools are the fundamental techniques of Ninjutsu. For over 900 years these arts were only available to a select few, the Samurai and Ninja of feudal Japan. At present, as the world is a more peaceful place to live, the essence and aims of the Bujinkan Dojo has changed. Our Sôke, Grandmaster Masaaki Hatsumi, wants his students to promote good friendship and understanding along with the nature of the Bujinkan Budo.
